I've often heard children say, "There's nothing to do today". I beg to differ. I'd like to inspire you to do something. Anything. Read. Bake. Hike. Fish. Plant. Sail. Climb. Play. Reach. Move. Laugh. Dream; and take time to sit with me on The Old Granite Step.

Visiting a field of sunflowers.

Sunflowers make
me happy!  For so many reasons.  During the growth cycle, they take on so many interesting colors and shapes.
This is yellow in every sense of the word!
Picture this slowly opening....petals reaching out while inviting the pollinators in.
There are many varieties of sunflowers represented by a plethora of colors and sizes.
This tattered and well worn bloom is beautiful in it's own way; especially to the bee in it's center!
Up close and personal.
Growing in harmony with the corn.
Brilliant.
There were bees on almost every flower.  It's apparent in these photos how important it is to encourage pollinators.
A smaller field that makes such a big statement!
Even in the heat with very little rain, they show off for us.
It may be hard to tell in the photo, but many of these are the size of a dinnerplate!
Natural perfection.
"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow.  It's what sunflowers do."  Helen Keller
Do you see the smiley face?
Notice the ombre effect in the green center.  Gorgeous.
Be sure to visit your local farm or roadside stand.
