I've often heard children say, "There's nothing to do today". I beg to differ. I'd like to inspire you to do something. Anything. Read. Bake. Hike. Fish. Plant. Sail. Climb. Play. Reach. Move. Laugh. Dream; and take time to sit with me on The Old Granite Step.

Our maple syrup was delivered yesterday!

Although it seems like the wrong time of year to be talking about maple syrup, ours was delivered yesterday.  A large jar of amber colored deliciousness delivered right to our back door!

I had a knock on the door back in the late winter season from a local farmer who asked if he could tap a few of our maple trees.  In exchange, we'd receive some maple syrup.  How could I say no?  But as the long winter crawled on, no taps.  Finally one day we noticed that while we were out our trees were tapped as were others along the road.  Such a fabulous sight!  Tapping maple trees is a sure sign that spring is right around the corner.
I understand why plastic line is sometimes more efficient for the farmer to use but I prefer the good old-fashioned sap bucket!
The final product; how sweet it is!  Time for buttermilk waffles or on a hot summer day try some maple syrup over ice cream.
