I've often heard children say, "There's nothing to do today". I beg to differ. I'd like to inspire you to do something. Anything. Read. Bake. Hike. Fish. Plant. Sail. Climb. Play. Reach. Move. Laugh. Dream; and take time to sit with me on The Old Granite Step.

Enjoying free time at home these days? Here's an easy bread recipe for you.

Home today with nothing to do?  Bake some bread!  It doesn't

have to be a difficult recipe or even one that uses yeast.  This one is neither of those!  It's a good old fashioned white bread recipe.  Start by mixing 3 cups of self-rising flour with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.  You may choose to leave the salt out if you wish.
In another bowl, mix 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of melted butter and 3/4 cup of sugar.
Mix 1 and 1/2 cups of milk with your sugar mixture.  Stir in the dry ingredients.  That's it!
Pour in a greased pan or baking dish (yes, I use butter to grease my pan) and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes until an inserted knife comes out clean.
 Golden brown perfection!
 Can you smell it?
This makes a wonderful loaf for toast or sandwiches.

 Fabulous with peanut butter!
 Or just butter too!
Do you have some walnuts or cranberries?  Stir a 1/2 cup of either one in before baking or one cup combined.  Soooo good!!
