I've often heard children say, "There's nothing to do today". I beg to differ. I'd like to inspire you to do something. Anything. Read. Bake. Hike. Fish. Plant. Sail. Climb. Play. Reach. Move. Laugh. Dream; and take time to sit with me on The Old Granite Step.

An adorable abandoned house with "Gingerbread" trim.

The next time you make a gingerbread house, think

of this home from long ago.  While these shutters aren't made out of chewing gum, they have fallen into disrepair and slowly the pieces fall to the ground. We can only imagine what it was like when it was newly built. We can appreciate the details necessary to assure the beauty of the trim.
A closer look shows the detailed woodwork under the lattice.  Reminiscent of what we might do with royal icing on our own gingerbread houses.
As a whole, it looks like it's out of a story book.
The afternoon shadows fall onto the front porch.
Simply fading away while we watch.  Why?
The glass vestibule at the front door continues to keep the weather out.  A stone's throw from the shore, it it too late for this fairy tale home to be brought back to life?
