I've often heard children say, "There's nothing to do today". I beg to differ. I'd like to inspire you to do something. Anything. Read. Bake. Hike. Fish. Plant. Sail. Climb. Play. Reach. Move. Laugh. Dream; and take time to sit with me on The Old Granite Step.

An easy apple turnover recipe for a chilly afternoon.

It's a simple treat that's a terrific
partner with a cup of tea!

Just two medium to large apples will make four turnovers.
Peel the apples,
then cut into small pieces.
You should have about 2 1/2 cups of apples.
Mix with 1/8 cup of white sugar, 1/8 cup of brown sugar (light or dark) and two tablespoons of cinnamon.
Using either pie crust that you've already made or store bought crust, put a bit more than a half cup on one side of the crust that you've cut into triangles.  It's OK to cheat on the crust from time to time.  I'm using store bought crust today but you can find my pie crust recipe here.
Fold the triangle over....
press edges together and crimp with a fork.
Poke a few holes in the top of the turnover and put into a 350 degree oven for about 15 - 20 minutes or until golden brown.
The kitty is keeping me company.
The smell is wonderful!  A cozy snack.

  1. Over Xmas break, I plan on trying this recipe and your cinnamon bread recipe. Both look perfect for cozy winter mornings!
